This workshop will help you tackle one of the trickiest jobs in teaching — Managing behavior. Too often, classroom management leaves everyone feeling angry, resentful, ineffective and disconnected. Whether you are a new teacher who is anxious about how to discipline, or a veteran educator whose 'bag of tricks' doesn't seem to be enough anymore, this workshop will encourage you to reframe the way you approach student misbehavior. Using the lens of social emotional health, we'll offer go-to approaches for: Developing effective expectations, having student-centered discipline conversations, and assigning consequences that protect children's dignity an support a positive relationship with the teacher. Plan to engage in facilitated discussions to explore changes to your current practices that will help students gain skills consistent with social emotional health. You'll practice strategies that are essential to positive changes in behavior and leave with an action plan for your classroom that can be implemented immediately.
