It can be disturbing and disheartening for teachers to learn that students participate in self-harming behaviors or may be contemplating suicide. Yet, kids that are trying to cope with life’s toughest challenges and have resorted to these copings skills are present in classrooms every day and need support. This session will provide a general overview of NSSI and Suicidal Ideation to equip teachers and other school - based staff with the basic knowledge required to respond appropriately to these needs and offer empathic support and guidance.
